Summer is the perfect time to grow as a musician.  Our day camps provide the best ways for young musicians to get priceless experience in a band and on a stage.


Our summer staff has years of experience leading our campers to a first rate music education experience. We offer different camps to help our students grow in different ways. At last there’s a rockin’ alternative to traditional summer camp.

Rock Band boot camp

Ever wonder how rock bands get started?  Here's your chance to learn the drill.  The camp is open to guitarists, bassists and drummers (Limited space for each specialty).  You must have basic skill on your instrument but no expertise is required - Just the desire to rock!
 

Rock Band Basic Training

In one week you can improve your guitar skills. This half-day camp is for anyone (grades 6-12) who has started learning guitar but wants to take it to the next level in a hurry.

This 5 day workshop is for anyone (grades 6-12) with drum or percussion experience. These daily clinics will focus on beats, fills, and rhythm techniques with a strong emphasis on performance. Drummers will learn everything from drum set and hand-drum basics to complex rhythms for many musical styles.

Ages 9-12

Here's a camp for kids who are new to the Rock Band experience. You will spend 4 days of intensive rock performance training and instrumental drilling. Students of guitar, bass, drums and piano/keyboard are welcome. We'll learn just what it takes to get your band ready for action. Students will spend time everyday being instructed in their individual instrument and with a band rehearsing and learning how to make it go. At the end of the week we'll put on a performance to show the world how far we've come.

During the week of Rock Band Boot Camp you study an instrument, join a band, write songs, and rehearse. On Friday your band will perform in a concert. Instrumental classes and band practices are lead by professional musicians. Recruits receive a standard issue "Rock Band Boot Camp" T-shirt.  Please provide shirt size when you register.  Students can bring their own lunch, snack, H2O bottle and beverage or money to purchase pizza and soft drinks.

At Guitar Camp we’ll focus on music fundamentals and guitar technique. Students will learn about chords, scales, strumming, charts, improvisation and song writing.  We’ll examine styles ranging from Blues to Heavy Metal.

Jazz Band Camp

This week long camp covers the basics of jazz performance, including improvisation, ensemble playing, chart reading and chord study. Students must be able to read music for their instrument and have basic skills. Activities include band rehearsal, small group instruction, focused listening to recordings and viewing live jazz performances. Instructors include notable musicians such as Paul Vorhagen and Dave Sharp.  This camp is perfect for any student who wants to prepare for a middle school or high school jazz band. Instruments: Saxophone, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Flute, Bass, Guitar, Drums, Piano/Keyboard.


Students provide own lunch, snack, H2o bottle and beverage. Monday - Friday

Rock Band - Tour of Duty

Advanced Students of all ages

At last a camp designed to challenge our most advanced students! The Rock Tour of Duty is for students who have achieved a high level of instrumental excellence. The mission in this week of modern rock warfare is to form groups and prepare for a public performance at the week's end. Students will be challenged to compose songs with multi-part arrangements and multiple time signatures. The bands will be overseen by our most experienced staff and each student will be pushed to the limits of their musical ability. Once the original, progressive songs are composed and rehearsed we'll take them to the public stage. Space for this camp is limited to 2 drummers, 2 bassists and 6 guitarists so please register early.

Rock explosion - A camp for everyone

Students of all ages, all instruments, all skill levels

Here is a rare opportunity to dig in to the depth of rock music. Students will learn what it means to play music today and decades ago. We'll learn the role of our instruments in the band and on their own. Students will learn about songwriting and instrumental arrangement. We'll discover the roots of today's music through films, discussion and by playing various styles of music.  Students will be grouped by age/experience but everyone will have the same opportunities to become a well-rounded, experienced player. We're welcoming students of guitar, bass, drums, piano/keyboard, vocals, mandolin, ukulele, violin, viola, cello, saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, french horn and oboe. This camp is designed to inform and inspire any budding musician irrespective of instrument, age or musical background.
